Baisha Yangtze River Bridge
Supplied Products: Alkali-Free Liquid Accelerator, Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer
The Jiangjin Baisha Yangtze River Bridge crosses the existing Chengdu–Chongqing Railway to the west and the planned Binjiang Road to the east. The total length of the route is 3,160 meters, with bridge towers reaching a height of 143.5 meters. The bridge is designed as a double-tower, double-cable-plane suspension bridge with a steel box girder, with a total length of 770 meters and a main span of 590 meters.
The main girder adopts a fully-welded orthotropic streamlined flat steel box girder design, consisting of 56 segments with a total weight of 12,000 tons. The heaviest single segment weighs up to 378 tons.
On January 26, 2022, the Jiangjin Baisha Yangtze River Bridge was officially opened to traffic.
The bridge’s girder structure, featuring fully-welded orthotropic steel plates and a streamlined flat steel box girder profile, enables superior aerodynamic performance and structural stability. The installation of the steel box girder utilized an innovative “high-low trestle sliding + small-angle secondary swing” method, which functioned like “swinging over the Yangtze River,” achieving millimeter-level precision alignment.
Given that the construction area lies within a national nature reserve for the rare fish species Myxocyprinus asiaticus, the technical team adopted static hydraulic splitting excavation, a low-noise, low-vibration method, to minimize ecological disruption and protect the aquatic ecosystem of the Yangtze River Basin.
