Introduction of polycarboxylate superplasticizer

This article introduces the overview, models, characteristics, applicable fields and storage conditions of polycarboxylate superplasticizer, so that the construction team using this product can use polycarboxylate superplasticizer correctly.

Our engineers developed polycarboxylate superplasticizer as a new generation of high-performance water reducer, using advanced polymer design theory. Composed of various polymer organic compounds, this product offers several key advantages, including high water reduction and excellent slump retention.

It also provides benefits such as collective slow setting, early strength development, enhanced concrete durability, and a chlorine-free, low-alkali formulation. Thanks to its green and environmentally friendly profile, it has found widespread application in high-strength, high-performance, and high-durability concrete, as well as in ordinary concrete, pumping projects, and superfluid self-compacting concrete. All indicators of the product can meet the requirements of relevant standards and specifications such as GB80702008, JG/T223-2007, TB 10424-2018, ASTM C494/C494M-24.

Manufacturers classify polycarboxylate superplasticizer as standard, slow setting, and early strength.

The standard type needs a dose of 0.8-1. 5%, fit for high performance, high strength, prefabricated concrete as well as high-temperature projects like high-performing, high-strength and especially normal temperature.

The slow setting type also uses a dosage of 0.8–1.5%. Its setting time can be adjusted from 3 to 40 hours, depending on construction needs, by conducting appropriate tests. It is suitable for large volume, underwater large flow self-compacting, high pumping, high performance, high strength concrete projects, and high temperature construction in summer.

The early strength type typically requires a dosage of 1.0–3.0%. It serves high-performance, high-strength, and ultra-high-strength concrete applications, as well as steam-cured products that demand enhanced early strength.

Product features
Appearance: colorless or light yellow liquid
High performance: The product has the excellent characteristics of high water reduction and high collapse retention, which can significantly improve various performance indicators of hardened concrete, and the water reduction rate can reach 25~40%.
Environmental protection: This product is chlorine-free, low-alkali, non-toxic and harmless.
Economic efficiency: It can significantly reduce the amount of cementitious materials and effectively reduce the project cost.
Construction adjustability: It can be adjusted to become an admixture with various properties according to the requirements of the construction site.

Application field
Polycarboxylate superplasticizer can be widely used in concrete projects such as roads, railways, bridges, water conservancy, electricity, tunnels, commercial concrete stations, etc.

Suppliers typically store, package, and transport the product in 200 kg or 1000 kg plastic barrels, or in tanks. They seal it and keep it in environments between 0–35°C. If exposed to subzero temperatures, the product may crystallize; however, heating and stirring restore its original properties without compromising performance. The product remains effective for up to 6 months. After that period, users must test its performance indicators to ensure all specifications still meet requirements before further use.

The technical parameters provided in this manual are all experimental data ranges provided by our company’s laboratory, for customer reference only. Before use, customers should conduct trial mixing tests based on the actual situation of the project and confirm the optimal parameters through on-site materials.
