Kunming high-speed railway

The Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway, abbreviated as the Chongqing-Kunming HSR and also known as the Chongqing-Kunming Passenger Dedicated Line, is a high-speed railway in China connecting Chongqing Municipality with Kunming in Yunnan Province. It is a key component of the Beijing-Kunming corridor, one of the main routes in the “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed railway network outlined in the “Mid-to-Long Term Railway Network Plan” (2016 revision). The line traverses Chongqing Municipality, Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province, and Yunnan Province.
Construction of the Chongqing and Sichuan sections began on September 29, 2019, followed by the Yunnan section on December 20, 2019. On December 26, 2023, the section from Yibin East to Yibin was opened to traffic. On September 29, 2024, the Yibin East to Chongqing West section (Yibin-Chongqing segment) was also opened.
The entire Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway runs from Chongqing West Station to Kunming South Station, covering a total length of 698.96 kilometers. It includes 21 stations and is designed for a top speed of 350 km/h. As of September 2024, the maximum operating speed of the Yibin-Chongqing section reached 350 km/h.
In February 2025, the main structure of the pier of the Luoze River Grand Bridge, part of the Chongqing-Kunming HSR, was completed. On May 10, it was reported that Yuntou Railway successfully secured 968 million yuan in local government special bonds, with 568 million yuan specifically allocated to the Yunnan section of the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway.
